Novel Smoking Shelter Noise Assessment Methodology

Novel Smoking Shelter Noise Assessment Methodology

MGES recently undertook an assessment to determine the potential noise impact of a proposed smoking shelter at a public house in Darwen.   Using freely available human voice sound power level and directivity data, noise levels at local residences were predicted using CadnaA environmental noise software.  Several smoking shelter usage scenarios were modelled and the results compared with measured background noise level data to assess the impact.   This new and novel assessment method is currently under review by environmental health officers at the relevant local authority.
